Many a proud athlete has demonstrated his/her prowess by sporting an appropriately themed charm.  During the 20s and 30s, sports-themed charms were hung from watch chains or  suspended from ribbons.   Charms made their way onto bracelets in the late 30s and have stayed there ever since.
